This Trek Slash sustained damage resulting in a crack in the carbon fiber downtube — Natural State Carbon Repair

This Trek Slash had a rubber downtube protector that was no match for a rogue rock on the trails of Bentonville. Fortunately, we are just down the road and were able to patch the downtube, color match the paint, and build a custom carbon fiber downtube protector to keep this frame safe from this type of carbon cracking incident in the future.

The rock nicked the rubber guard but ultimately hit the downtube with enough force to crack it.

The downtube is visibly cracked but also was soft when pressed on, meaning the damage runs rather deep

This tinted clear coat sprayed quite nicely leaving the repair looking nice and clean.

Here we have that bolt on downtube protector made of carbon fiber. In the future this would take the impact of a rock rather than the frame. With this one we layed down some chopped fabric on the bottom third to aesthetically break up the checkerboar
